Welcome! I’m JQ

Instructional Designer • Learning Experience Designer • eLearning Developer

I design engaging, accessible learning experiences that turn complex information into content people can understand, navigate, and apply.

From interactive eLearning and online courses to multimedia, performance-support resources, and custom visuals, I combine instructional strategy with hands-on development to bring learning ideas to life.

What I Create

About Me

I'm an instructional designer and eLearning developer with a background in science education, visual design, and technology. I started my career teaching science, where I learned that presenting information isn't the same as creating understanding. Good learning requires knowing your audience, removing unnecessary barriers, and giving people meaningful opportunities to apply what they've learned.

Today, I bring that perspective to digital learning. I design and develop eLearning, online courses, multimedia, learning resources, and visual solutions for professional and adult audiences. My work spans the full development process—from analyzing needs and collaborating with subject matter experts to storyboarding, development, accessibility, quality assurance, and LMS-ready delivery.

I also love experimenting with new technologies and creative approaches. Whether I'm developing a scenario in Storyline, building a course in Rise or Canvas, producing multimedia, or designing a custom visual, my goal is the same: make learning both engaging and effective.

My process & approach to solving problems

In my process and approach to solving problems, ensuring that people are always at the center of my work is paramount. I aim to collaborate closely with stakeholders, learners, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify key points and design elegant, effective solutions. As an analytical thinker, I approach problems with a broad-picture view, allowing me to identify the best map forward. I gather data and insights, modifying solutions after feedback and user testing. This step-by-step approach enables me to develop adaptive, learner-focused projects that evolve as needs change, aligning seamlessly with both learning and business goals.

How I work with people

The capacity to collaborate is a fundamental aspect of my professional practice. I flourish when I am able to establish genuine connections with colleagues, subject matter experts, and key stakeholders. These relationships ensure that our solutions are cohesive and goal-targeted. It is my vision that optimal outcomes are achieved in settings wherein team members are able to engage in open discourse, mutual learning, and constructive contribution. As a developer, I take gratification in facilitating the uplifting of others, ensuring that our collaborative efforts not only yield tangible outcomes but also promote individual and collective advancement.

What we can accomplish

I am dedicated to assisting you in achieving your objectives with regard to design and outcomes. I am confident that we can develop solutions that are both inspiring and transformative. Whether the objective is to utilize logos, bespoke artwork, training, or to pursue learner-driven, data-informed solutions, I possess the requisite skills to assist in the realization of your vision and goals.

Beyond the Screen

Creativity doesn't stop when I close Storyline. Outside of instructional design, you'll usually find me painting or illustrating, exploring science and the natural world, spending time with my therapy dog, reading, traveling, or finding another reason to be near the ocean.

Those interests influence my work more than you might expect. Science fuels my curiosity, art shapes how I communicate visually, and teaching taught me to approach complex ideas with patience and empathy. Together, they've helped shape the designer I am today.
